The First Monday of School 2016-2017...
I hope all is well in your junior high world!
On the first Monday of our new school year, I wanted to share with you what we did in class today...
This Happens Every Day...
We went over our agenda - the "Wall Secretary" that includes, School News, Homework, and our "I Can ..." statements.
As I mentioned on day one, it's important you make a habit of taking out your assignment notebook immediately when you walk in the room while I review everything on the "Wall Secretary".
The goal is to develop the habit of using your assignment notebook for effective management of your tasks and responsibilities.
Daily Work
Activity #1: Vocabulary Flashcards - Model and Practice
You received your vocabulary workbooks today. We also went over the requirements of flashcards.
You are required to include specific information in specific locations on every flashcard. This is because you will be learning a memorization strategy that can be used in ANY CLASSROOM using these cards.

Note: Every word will have a flashcard. Every flashcard will include the same elements, as pictured above.
Activity #2: Fabulous Frogs
We continued the speaking and listening activity, Fabulous Frogs. It helped us get to know each other and now, we are more than just acquaintances! :-)

Activity #3: Tech Slideshow
The last activity we did was watching the PBIS slideshow about technology. All Summit Hill students are aware of the expectations:
- Be Safe
- Be Responsible
- Be Respectful
The same holds true no matter where you travel in the school or with the school. Just take special precautions while on the internet for safety and respect.
REMEMBER
Wednesday and Thursday you are going directly to the computer lab. We will not meet in the classroom upstairs. You will go directly to room 118.
