How to Be a More Confident Public Speaker
Please read this entire page before you begin.
This is a 3 Step Assignment
Step 1: Watch and Listen
You are going to watch a video and take notes on that video. The video is included below. The first time, just listen. No notes.
Step 2: Watch and Take Notes
Take out paper and pencil. Title the notes as follows:
"Become a More Confident Public Speaker" - Notes
Play the video and record information that best summarizes what you're hearing. This information should help you with your information collection project. It must be easy to read. It can include visual representations of some information. It can include a mind map or outline if you choose.
Record important information in a visually memorable fashion. (A running list of thoughts is never effective for brain engagement.)
Stop the video as many times as you need to. Heck, rewind as often as you want to, as well. You're in control of the information being delivered in this video. Make this experience meaningful by gathering information that will help you become a more confident speaker.

Step 3: Submit Your Notes Electronically
You have a few choices here...
After you take notes using paper and pencil you can
- scan them and submit them
- take a photo of them and submit the photo
- retype them into a word document or powerpoint, and then submit them
OR...
You can create an electronic version of your notes from the very beginning and take notes in WORD while you're watching the video. Then save your document and complete your electronic submission
Make sure you figure out which choice works out best for you so you can engage with this information efficiently while gathering some helpful insight.
