Week of February 3, 2014
Your Information Collection Projects are done. They took a little longer to present than anticipate with those snow days interrupting us.
BUT…
They were fantastic! Congratulation for your success at bringing together so many skills with your interests to create meaningful presentation to share with your peers.
Here is today work. The story we will be reading this week is Harriet Tubman. The article you are reading today is significant to that story.
Writing Territories
Today you are experimenting with your writing territories. You wrote these in the back of your English spiral. These are lists of topics you will be writing about during our Daily Writing.
Daily Writing is informal writing with a time frame. The goal: to write the entire time. Don’t worry about structure or word choice. This is brain dump. The purpose: to get your thoughts going… in any direction.
AR reading Time
You will be given 25 minutes to read silently from your novel. Your AR test is due this week… check your calendar for the date. The project will be done in class.
Again you will have a menu of projects to choose from. Class time must be used to work on the project and complete it.
Reading for Meaning
You will be reading an article on leadership independently, annotation and taking notes. The purpose is to clarify your understanding of leadership.
You will be responsible for communicating what you learned from this article. (Not a test, but through notes, a visual, and a brief presentation to your team.)
