The story is told by it's main character Kino, a pearl hunter. Kino and his wife Juana live a simple life. In his life he appreciates the "song of the family" and the "song of his people".
This classic story by John Steinbeck address more than the story itself. Like many of his novels, Steinbeck address human nature and reveals the hope and struggles faced by man.
There is more than one theme presented int he Pearl: rich vs poor, the idea of good and evil, and the corruption that accompanies wealth.
